Cut Copy – Zonoscope
[Modular, 2011]
I won’t write much about the album, it’s bound to be hyped about (already is). Australian duo Cut Copy did a great job! I can admit, I haven’t been their big fan, but Zonoscope is way too much James-Murphy-like. Danceable electronics and easy-going-ness without being obnoxious. Take Me Over fashions a sample from the 80s party classic, Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere.” One of the best songs of the season! The opening track, Need You Now, is almost as good. This euphoria and lightness is a sign of work being over, and time to dance a whole day, night, or weekend long. Happy synth rhythms, no heavy strikes, good accents and a nice variety of easiness. All in all, Zonoscope has it all to kill the clouds over your head and create a dance atmosphere.
