The Herbaliser Band - Session 2
The Herbaliser Band - Session 2
[!K7, 2009]
Almost ten years passed since the day a double LP “Session 1″ by The Herbaliser was released. “Session 2″ now is even more than a decade of live Herbaliser performances. A wonderful live electronic jazz with hip-hop elements, scratches and beats. Because this is more of an all-times compilation, and not specifically an album, the mood shifts from slightly melancholic to harsh, then to airy-danceable. Perfect combinations, moving sounds and something nostalgic, like of an album that you haven’t been listening to for years, all covered in dust.
Last year Same As It Never Was album was more into the classic soul sound, Session 2 brings about more funk, vinyl scratching and fun. Amores Bongo even bring to mind old soviet films - in remix version, still. Some of the sounds compiled here are from 12 years ago, others are virtually newborn. Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba decided to keep instrumental beauty, there are no vocalists or MC’s on the album, but it never gets boring. The vocals are kept for further albums. And right now - a non-serious approach to electro-jazz.
